Sketches and magic!

Long time no post! To tell the truth, I miss my blog. :)
Here are some stuff I've been doing lately to re-open this up. I've been sketching a LOT! Oh yeah! :)

The first is a rogue, I gave him a quick color and here he is in the light.
Second are some Merida from "Brave" inspired drawings I made while listening to the movie's soundtrack. I love the song by the Mumford & Sons and Birdy (Learn me Right)!
Third, some faerie inspired drawings, and the last one too, but with some love for dancing. *heart*

Ethereal Love

Dancing exercices...

... on paper, of course. :P
I sketched this based on the video of a dance performance by Marco Ferreira, the winner of the portuguese version of the show "So You Think You Can Dance". He's an amazing dancer, great moves! I learned a lot by watching the video and drawing him. :) Thank you Marco!

Dancing (sort of) Sketches

Some random sketches inspired on dancing (contemporary - my favourite). Done with photoshop. No references used. Just listened to music and let myself go. Not without watching a video or two about dancing just to set the mood. ;)

(I'm not a dancer... it's probably obvious in the drawings - I doubt they are official contemporary dance moves :P)

Paranaue! Paranaue Parana!

I love drawing bodies in motion! Especially if they're doing martial arts or dancing... which for me is almost the same thing in therms of movement. ;)
Here are some sketches I made today isnpired on Capoeira moves. I did them while listening to the songs of the movie "Only The Strong", which they say to be the best film about Capoeira. These songs make me want to draw and do the "ginga" at the same time, ahahah!
Anyway, no references were used to sketch, except for the last two pages.

(Yeah... I know there are a lot of anatomic mistakes. ^.^;)

Pinups

These are my contribution for a pinup collection... and a personal attempt at painting realism. No photographic references were used, except for the gipsy girl's face position.

More concepts...

... this time for a "Bollycao" commercial.. :)  This is how the wonderful "bread" full of yummie chocolate is made. ;)  These concepts were used to make the 3D version and the result turned out very nice!

The Magic of Love

Illustration for a book featuring stories by children from 3 to 9 years. It's really interesting and cute to see some of these kids' ideas. :D The story that I illustrated was about a princess and a prince in love; there was also two dragons, a fairy, a gnome, a boy and a girl. The evil wizard and sorceress didn't fit in the picture, ah ah. I'm not entirely satisfied with the result, but I certainly enjoyed myself painting this.
I hope that the little author also enjoyed the way I pictured her story. :)

Ilustração para um livro com histórias criadas por crianças dos 3 aos 9 anos. É muito giro e interessante ver algumas das ideias destes miúdos. :D A história que me calhou ilustrar é sobre uma princesa e um príncipe apaixonados; também havia dois dragões, uma fada, um gnomo, um menino e uma menina. O feiticeiro e feiticeira maus não estão incluídos, ah ah. Não estou satisfeita de todo com o resultado final, mas diverti-me imenso a pintar esta imagem.
Espero que a pequena autora goste da forma como ilustrei a sua história. :)

Some background concepts

Some concepts I developed for "The Sleeping Planet", a short musical film for children in which real actors acted with animated characters over painted backgrounds. I wasn't available to do more, so I fully painted only one background and sketched two more for the "What's Up" team (the studio working in the whole animation stuff behind the film).

Alguns concepts que desenvolvi para o filme "O Planeta Adormecido", uma curta metragem musical com actores reais a contracenar com personagens animadas, em cenários desenhados e pintados. Eu não estava disponível para fazer mais, por isso pintei apenas um cenário e esbocei outros dois para a equipa da What's Up, o estúdio que tratou de toda a parte da animação.

Joined Hearts

I've finished reading most of Salvatore's books of the "Legend of Drizzt" some time ago and I've been working on a couple of illustrations. This is the result of one of them: Drizzt getting together with Catti-brie, his female best friend.

Depois de ler quase todos os livros da "Lenda de Drizzt", do Salvatore, fiquei com vontade de fazer algumas ilustrações. Tenho três planeadas e este é o resultado de uma delas: O Drizzt e a sua melhor amiga, Catti-brie, ficando juntos.

Random faces

... and it's basically it. :P They're all characters imagined by me, drawn randomly as my mind wandered their world. You may recognize the dark elf at the top-left corner, though... the resemblances are no coincidence. :P

Rostos aleatórios todos vindos da imaginação, desenhados aleatoriamente enquanto a minha mente vagueava nos seus mundos. No entanto até podem reconhecer o elfo negro do canto superior direito... as semelhanças não são coincidência. :P
